The World Championship 100 km race will take place at the biathlon and skiing base "Jankas/ Jaujas" in the Aizkraukle region, Aiviekste parish. The start was given at 06:30, and the course mainly led through the outskirts of the city with rather poor asphalt surface. The weather conditions were ideal for runners of this distance, with a temperature around +20° and a sea breeze.

Highlights

  • Latvian ultramarathon runner Diāna Džaviza broke the previous national record at the 31st World Championship (WC) in the 100 kilometers.
  • Around 250 participants from 35 countries took part in the competition, and nearly two hundred reached the finish line.
  • The fastest participant was the Japanese runner Haruki Okajama, who completed the distance in 6 hours, 12 minutes, and 10 seconds.
